Jane Siberry released A Collection 1984-1989 in 1994 as a retrospective of her first four albums. An experimental artist whose work drew early comparisons to Laurie Anderson, Siberry demonstrated remarkable range across her catalog, moving fluidly between spoken-word passages and melodic songwriting. Tracks like the wistful “Mimi On The Beach” and the straightforward “One More Colour” showcase her versatility, while deeper cuts such as “The Taxi Ride” and “The Walking” rank among her finest compositions. Rather than playing it safe, Siberry consistently challenged listener expectations and expanded musical boundaries throughout her early career.

This CD compilation spans ten tracks selected from her initial studio work, running approximately 53 minutes. A solid introduction to Siberry’s unconventional approach to folk, world, and soul-influenced music, the collection captures an artist unafraid to take risks and defy easy categorization. Grab this used copy and experience the boundary-pushing work of an early innovator.
