In this 2009 comedy-fantasy directed by Burr Steers, Matthew Perry stars as Mike O’Donnell, a man whose life has taken a disappointing turn. Once a promising high school basketball player, Mike abandoned his potential to marry his girlfriend and start a family. Nearly two decades later, his marriage has crumbled, his children view him as a failure, and his career has stalled. When Mike is mysteriously transformed back into his 17-year-old self, played by Zac Efron, he sees an opportunity to undo his past mistakes and reclaim the life he lost. As he navigates high school a second time with an adult’s perspective, Mike must balance his desire to fix his regrets with the risk of damaging the present he still has.
