You Gotta Sin to Get Saved

CD Details

Maria McKee, formerly of Lone Justice, delivers a blues and rock album that blends soul, country, and folk influences. Her distinctive voice draws comparisons to both Dolly Parton and Aretha Franklin, and here it shines across eight tracks that showcase her range and emotional depth. Guitarist Gary Louris of The Jayhawks contributes twisted, expressive guitar work that matches McKee’s intensity throughout, particularly on the closing title track. From the soulful “I’m Gonna Soothe You” to the honky-tonk feel of “Only Once” and the hard-edged pop of “I Can’t Make It Alone,” McKee demonstrates a newfound ability to balance her spiritual side with raw, anthemic sensuality.

This CD comes from the Geffen Gold Line label and includes eight songs with a total runtime of approximately 30 minutes. The album features “My Lonely Sad Eyes,” “My Girlhood Among The Outlaws,” “I Forgive You,” “Precious Time,” “The Way Young Lovers Do,” and “Why Wasn’t I More Grateful (When Life Was Sweet).” Grab this used copy and experience McKee’s most cohesive work from start to finish.
