Wise and Otherwise

CD Details

Harry Manx released Wise and Otherwise in 2002 on the Northern Blues label, blending blues with folk and world music traditions. The album showcases Manx’s signature Mohan Veena, an exotic stringed instrument that takes center stage throughout the record. Standout tracks include “Death Have Mercy” and “Coat Of Mail,” both featuring the Mohan Veena’s distinctive sound, as well as Manx’s reimagining of “The Thrill Is Gone,” where he weaves together the classic blues standard with traditional Indian raga elements to create something entirely fresh.

This single-disc CD contains ten tracks spanning over forty minutes of acoustic music that merges blues sensibilities with Indian musical influences. Wise and Otherwise represents one of Manx’s finest recordings, earning praise for its hauntingly beautiful fusion of folk-blues and world music traditions. Grab this used copy and experience the quiet power of two musical cultures meeting on one album.
