Woody Allen directs this 2009 romantic comedy starring Larry David as Boris, a brilliant and cynical physicist living in New York. When Melodie, a naive runaway from the South played by Evan Rachel Wood, crosses his path, an unlikely bond forms between them. As Boris introduces Melodie to his bleak worldview and she responds with warmth and care, their relationship sets off a chain of romantic complications involving those around them, including Melodie’s deeply religious parents who arrive in the city to bring her home.

This is a single-disc DVD release from Sony Pictures Classics with a runtime of 93 minutes and a PG-13 rating. The widescreen presentation features English audio and comes in a sleeve. Allen’s cynical sensibility pairs remarkably well with David’s acerbic humor, creating comedy from life’s darkest corners, supported by strong performances from Ed Begley Jr. and the rest of the cast.
