West Side Story is a landmark Broadway musical that premiered in 1957, created by Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, Arthur Laurents, and Jerome Robbins. The show tells the story of two rival gangs in New York City and the doomed romance between members of opposing sides. Carol Lawrence, Chita Rivera, and Larry Kert star in this original cast recording, which captures the groundbreaking score that blends Latin percussion and jazz influences with Bernstein’s innovative orchestrations.

This CD features the complete original Broadway cast performance, including iconic numbers like “Jet Song,” “Something’s Coming,” “Maria,” “Tonight,” “America,” and “Cool,” along with instrumental selections and the symphonic dances. Released in 1998 as a reissue, this edition includes over twenty minutes of additional material plus liner notes and production photographs. Owning the original cast recording lets you experience the show exactly as audiences first encountered it on stage.
