Pat Metheny Group’s 1995 contemporary jazz fusion album We Live Here showcases the guitarist’s creative partnership with keyboardist Lyle Mays, who co-composed most of the tracks alongside Metheny. The ensemble features Mays on piano and synthesizers, bassist Steve Rodby, drummer Paul Wertico, percussionist Luis Conte, and vocalists David Blamires and Mark Ledford. Metheny’s inventive guitar work drives the album’s varied soundscapes, from the lyrical beauty of “And Then I Knew” to the energetic funk of “The Girls Next Door” and the expansive twelve-minute journey of “To the End of the World,” which builds from brooding intensity to explosive climax.
Released on Geffen Records, this CD contains nine tracks including the title track, “Red Sky,” and “Episode D’Azur,” a composition by Mays that exemplifies the album’s blend of intricate arrangements and dynamic interplay.
