Waking Ned Devine is a 1998 Irish comedy directed by Kirk Jones. When Jackie O’Shea discovers that his neighbor Ned Devine has won the lottery, he sees an opportunity for wealth. His plans take an unexpected turn when he learns that Ned has died from the shock of his windfall. Rather than abandon their scheme, Jackie and his friend Michael O’Sullivan decide to dispose of the body and impersonate the deceased winner to claim the prize. Soon the entire village becomes entangled in the plot, and complications mount as they attempt to outsmart the authorities.

This is a single-disc DVD release from Fox Searchlight Pictures with a runtime of 91 minutes and a PG rating. The film features Ian Bannen as Jackie, David Kelly as Michael, and Fionnula Flanagan, Fintan McKeown, and James Nesbitt in supporting roles. Bannen delivers a superb performance as a man eager for excitement, while Kelly’s twitchy comedic timing and memorable scenes make him a standout. You can own this charming comedy on physical media at a used price.
