United States of Tara is a drama series that premiered in 2009 and stars Toni Collette as Tara Gregson, a wife and mother living with dissociative identity disorder. Her distinct alternate personalities emerge throughout the series as her family works to understand and cope with her condition. John Corbett and Brie Larson round out the cast as her husband and children. Directed by Craig Gillespie, John Dahl, and Mark Mylod, with writing from Diablo Cody and others, the show balances dark comedy with genuine emotional depth as it explores how this disorder affects everyone close to Tara.
