John Hughes wrote and directed this 1989 comedy about Buck Russell, a laid-back bachelor who unexpectedly becomes the caretaker for his nephew and nieces during a family emergency. Starring John Candy as the lovable but slovenly Uncle Buck, the film follows his clash between his easygoing, unconventional ways and the orderly suburban household he inherits. While his younger relatives warm to his unorthodox cooking and laundry methods, his rebellious teenage niece Tia and his impatient girlfriend Chanice prove less charmed by his freewheeling approach.
