Torchlighters: The Richard Allen Story is a 2022 documentary directed by Robert Fernandez and featuring Leonard Dozier and Nate Goodwyn. The film chronicles the life of Richard Allen, a man born into slavery before the American Revolution who experiences a spiritual awakening through Christianity. After his conversion and subsequent purchase of his own freedom, Allen becomes a circuit-riding preacher and eventually settles as a pastor in Philadelphia, dedicating himself to confronting the racial injustice that defined early America.

This single-disc DVD presents the documentary account of Allen’s journey and moral courage. When faced with racial segregation within his own church and later an epidemic threatening Philadelphia, Allen must decide how far he will go to advocate for his community and those who had previously treated him as inferior. A used copy offers you the opportunity to explore this important historical narrative at a fraction of retail cost.
