Tim is a 1979 Australian drama directed by Michael Pate and based on Colleen McCullough’s novel. Mel Gibson stars as Tim, a handsome but innocent young gardener who is hired by Mary, a wealthy widow played by Piper Laurie. As Tim works on her estate, the two form an unlikely bond that gradually transforms into romance. Mary becomes his guide to understanding the complexities of life and love, while Tim’s genuine nature and youthful perspective offer her companionship and emotional connection.
