Thomas & Sarah is a 1979 British television drama that spun off from the beloved series Upstairs, Downstairs. Starring John Alderton and Pauline Collins as a real-life couple, the show follows a chauffeur and a parlor maid who leave their positions at Eaton Place to forge their own path in Edwardian England. After the pair separate, Thomas works as a struggling mechanic while Sarah becomes a companion to a wealthy woman. When Thomas sets out to win Sarah back and improve his circumstances, the two find themselves caught up in schemes involving smuggling, matchmaking, and romance as they navigate ambition and love on their own terms.
