The Union is a 2010 pop-rock collaboration between legendary artists Elton John and Leon Russell, their first work together since 1970. Produced by T Bone Burnett, the album features songs written by John and longtime lyricist Bernie Taupin alongside compositions from Russell and Burnett himself. Recorded live in the studio with John and Russell performing on dueling pianos, the project blends R&B, soul, gospel, country, pop and rock influences. Guest vocalists Neil Young and Brian Wilson appear on the 16-track record, joined by organist Booker T. Jones, steel guitarist Robert Randolph and a 10-piece gospel choir.
