The Smurfs, Vol. 1: True Blue Friends is an animated television series that debuted in 1982, based on Belgian cartoonist Peyo’s beloved characters. This show follows the tiny blue inhabitants of Smurf Village as they navigate life under the leadership of Papa Smurf. Their peaceful existence is constantly threatened by the scheming wizard Gargamel and his menacing cat Azrael, who are determined to capture the Smurfs for various nefarious purposes. The series features voice work from Alan Oppenheimer, Bill Callaway, Danny Goldman, Don Messick, Frank Welker, and Hamilton Camp, with direction by Bob Hathcock, Carl Urbano, and George Gordon.
