The Sandlot

Movie / Show Details

In this 1993 coming-of-age comedy directed by David M. Evans, a group of neighborhood kids spend the summer of 1962 playing baseball on a local sandlot. When new kid Scotty Smalls arrives in town, he’s awkward and friendless, but star player Benny Rodriguez takes him under his wing and teaches him the game. Their summer of friendship and adventure takes a turn when Smalls hits a home run that sends his stepfather’s prized autographed Babe Ruth baseball over the right field wall into a yard guarded by a fearsome dog called “The Beast.” The boys must use all their creativity and courage to retrieve the ball, leading to hilarious and heroic encounters with both the dog and its mysterious owner.
