Ming-Liang Tsai’s 1997 Taiwanese drama follows a young man whose life unravels after he develops severe, unexplained neck pain while acting in a film shoot involving a polluted river. Unable to find medical relief, he navigates a world of isolation and physical suffering alongside an ensemble of characters including an elevator operator, her lover, and her husband, all caught in their own struggles. Tsai constructs this narrative through deliberate pacing and seemingly mundane imagery that accumulates into an unsettling emotional weight, blending deadpan humor with an eerie cinematic sensibility.

This single-disc DVD release runs 95 minutes and is not rated. Leisure Time Features issued this edition of a film that resists conventional storytelling in favor of slow, hypnotic observation. You can own this art-house exploration of suffering and disconnection as a used physical copy from us.
