The Postman (Il Postino) is a 1994 film soundtrack composed, orchestrated, and conducted by Luis Bacalov. The album combines the film’s original orchestral score with recitations of Pablo Neruda’s poetry performed by an ensemble of acclaimed actors including Sting, Miranda Richardson, Wesley Snipes, Ralph Fiennes, Ethan Hawke, Julia Roberts, Glenn Close, Samuel L. Jackson, Andy García, Willem Dafoe, Madonna, Vincent Perez, and Rufus Sewell. The music and poetry work together to capture the spirit of the film, which centers on the relationship between a postman and the renowned poet Neruda.

This is a CD release on the Miramax Records label, featuring classical arrangements alongside the poetic performances. Standout tracks include the Poetry & Music Suite, Theme, Morning (Love Sonnett XXVII), Ode To The Sea, and Fable Of The Mermaid And The Drunks. The soundtrack earned both the Academy Award for Best Original Dramatic Score and the BAFTA Award for Best Film Music. Own this award-winning soundtrack on physical media at a used price.
