Released in 1998, The Negotiator is an action thriller directed by F. Gary Gray and starring Samuel L. Jackson and Kevin Spacey as two Chicago police negotiators. When Jackson’s character is falsely accused of embezzling from a police pension fund, he takes hostages at police headquarters to prove his innocence and expose a conspiracy. Demanding that Spacey’s character mediate the standoff, the two skilled negotiators engage in a tense psychological battle while law enforcement closes in and media attention intensifies.
