The Grudge is a 2004 supernatural horror film directed by Takashi Shimizu and written by Shimizu and Stephen Susco. Sarah Michelle Gellar stars as an American nurse working in Tokyo who becomes entangled with a terrifying curse. When vengeful spirits of a mother and child murdered in their home are awakened by anyone who enters the house, a cycle of rage and death begins to spread beyond the walls, claiming victims and passing the curse to others.
