This compilation brings together five landmark police dramas from the 1970s, each represented by its premiere episode. Starsky and Hutch, Police Woman, S.W.A.T., The Rookies, and Charlie’s Angels showcase the decade’s approach to crime television, featuring detectives and officers navigating investigations and law enforcement challenges. Directors including Allen Baron and Alvin Ganzer helmed these series, which featured performers such as Angie Dickinson, Cheryl Ladd, and Antonio Fargas. The collection reveals how these shows drew inspiration from contemporary action cinema, employing dynamic camera work and visual storytelling techniques that set them apart from earlier television procedurals.

This single-disc DVD release contains 252 minutes of programming from Columbia TriStar. Each series brought its own sensibility to the cop-show format, from the gritty street-level work of Starsky and Hutch to the tactical operations of S.W.A.T. and the undercover work of Police Woman. A used copy lets you experience these influential series debuts at a fraction of retail cost.
