The September 11, 1971 episode marks their first American television appearance following The Beatles’ breakup, with the couple as Cavett’s sole guests discussing their experimental films and musical work. A follow-up episode from September 24, 1971 features additional segments from that initial visit along with appearances by other guests. On May 11, 1972, Lennon and Ono returned to perform live with the band Elephants Memory, each singing a song. These interviews showcase the musicians at their most relaxed and candid, revealing a genuine rapport between them and their host.
