Based on Mary Norton’s classic novels, The Borrowers is a 1997 adventure film following the Clock family, tiny four-inch-tall creatures who live secretly beneath the floorboards and borrow items from the humans above them. When headstrong teenage Borrower Arrietty sneaks out and befriends a lonely boy upstairs, her actions accidentally expose her family to a scheming scientist, forcing them to flee into the outside world. With help from a roguish Borrower named Spiller, Arrietty must outwit the threat and find a way for her family to return home before Christmas. Directed by Peter Hewitt and Tom Harper, the film features Aisling Loftus as Arrietty, alongside Christopher Eccleston, Jim Broadbent, John Goodman, Mark Williams, and Robert Sheehan.
