Laura Pursell, a Nashville-raised vocalist and songwriter often compared to Karen Carpenter and Eva Cassidy, recorded this holiday album in 2004 under the Netcom Music label. Working with Grammy-winning producer and saxophonist Rusty Higgins, arrangers Bob Florence, Kim Richmond, Scott Lavender, and Bill Pursell (her father, a musician himself), the team reimagined classic Christmas standards with inventive arrangements. “We Need a Little Christmas” becomes a salsa number, “Winter Wonderland” transforms into a bossa nova, and “Jingle Bell Rock” features a searing rock guitar solo, while two original tracks add contemporary flair to the collection.

This CD features Pursell’s soulful vocals backed by a full rhythm section, horns, and the Nashville String Machine, with Rusty Higgins’ saxophone work woven throughout. A used copy gives you access to this creative holiday recording at a fraction of retail cost.
