Taxi Driver (Collector's Edition)

Movie / Show Details

Martin Scorsese directed this 1976 psychological drama about Travis Bickle, a disturbed New York cab driver played by Robert De Niro. Struggling with insomnia and deep isolation, Travis becomes increasingly detached from reality as he navigates the urban landscape. His descent into violence is driven by his view of the city as a cesspool of corruption, and he becomes obsessed with protecting a young prostitute, played by Jodie Foster. The film also features Albert Brooks, Harvey Keitel, and Cybill Shepherd in supporting roles, with a screenplay by Paul Schrader that captures themes of loneliness and alienation in the post-Watergate era.

This is a single-disc DVD edition from Columbia Pictures with a runtime of 1 hour 54 minutes and an R rating. De Niro’s performance as the tortured ex-Marine remains one of cinema’s most intense and unforgettable character portrayals, and the film won the Golden Palm at Cannes and earned four Academy Award nominations including Best Picture.
