Tactics is a 2004 Japanese anime series directed by Hiroshi Watanabe that follows Kantaro, a writer and folklorist who investigates supernatural phenomena across early 20th-century Japan. After freeing the legendary Demon-Eating Goblin from an ancient seal and naming him Haruka, Kantaro binds the powerful being to himself as a companion. Alongside Haruka, the fox-demon Yoko, and a young girl named Suzu, Kantaro travels the countryside exorcising evil spirits and solving mysteries, from rescuing a woman in Tokyo from a vengeful specter to recovering stolen souls trapped in cursed photographs.
