Swing Era – Duke Ellington in Hollywood is a 2004 compilation bringing together classic performance films featuring Duke Ellington and his orchestra during Hollywood’s golden age of swing. The collection includes Black and Tan from 1929 and Symphony in Black from 1935, which showcases a memorable sequence with Billie Holiday, along with various musical numbers from other motion pictures of the era, including three scenes with Mae West from the 1934 film Belle of the Nineties.

Released on DVD by Idem Home Video as a single disc, this collection preserves the artistry of one of jazz’s most influential figures captured on film. Owning this used copy lets you experience these historic performances at a fraction of the cost of a new release.
