Strange Brew is a 1983 Canadian comedy directed by and starring Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas as Doug and Bob MacKenzie, characters from the sketch comedy series SCTV. When the brothers discover a sinister plot involving mind control hidden within a brewery’s beer supply, they infiltrate the Elsinore brewery to stop the deranged Brewmeister Smith and his hockey-playing associates from executing their scheme for world domination. The film draws loose inspiration from Shakespeare’s Hamlet while delivering absurdist humor centered around the MacKenzies’ misadventures.
