Stone Soup and Other Stories from the Asian Tradition is an animated children’s film featuring four classic tales adapted for young viewers. Stone Soup, narrated by B.D. Wong and based on Jon J. Muth’s work, explores how communities accomplish more through cooperation. The Five Chinese Brothers, from Claire Bishop’s story, follows five siblings whose individual supernatural abilities help them escape danger. Lon Po Po, also narrated by Wong and adapted from Ed Young’s retelling, presents an Asian version of Red Riding Hood with themes of caution and bravery. The Stonecutter, adapted from Gerald McDermott’s tale, tells of Tasaku, a humble stone worker who desires greater power.

This single-disc DVD is not rated and includes all four stories plus a read-along feature and an interview with Stone Soup author and illustrator Jon J. Muth. A used copy from us means you own these beloved stories on physical media at a fraction of retail cost.
