J.J. Abrams directed this 2009 science fiction action film that reimagines the Star Trek universe. When a vengeful antagonist emerges from a temporal anomaly, the crew of the newly commissioned U.S.S. Enterprise faces an existential threat to the Federation. Young captain James Kirk, a reckless Iowa native played by Chris Pine, must find common ground with Spock, a logic-driven Vulcan officer portrayed by Zachary Quinto. As Kirk’s impulsive nature collides with Spock’s reasoned approach, the two rivals discover that their contrasting perspectives are essential to protecting the galaxy. The ensemble cast includes Bruce Greenwood, Eric Bana, and Leonard Nimoy, with the screenplay by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci based on Gene Roddenberry’s original creation.

This single-disc DVD release runs 127 minutes and carries a PG-13 rating from Paramount Distribution. Special features include commentary from director Abrams along with producers and writers, a featurette titled A New Vision, and a gag reel.
