Spencer’s Mountain is a 1963 family drama directed by Delmer Daves and based on an Earl Hamner Jr. novel that would later inspire the television series The Waltons. Henry Fonda stars as Clay Spencer, a fiercely independent Wyoming laborer who dreams of building a new house for his wife Olivia (Maureen O’Hara) and their nine children. When their eldest son pursues college and becomes romantically involved with the daughter of Clay’s boss, the family must navigate the tension between personal ambition and small-town expectations while working toward their vision of a better life in the mountains.

This single-disc DVD release from Warner Bros. runs 98 minutes and carries a US Approved rating. Daves directs with earnest sentiment, anchored by Fonda’s grounded performance as a man of principle and quiet wit.
