Songs From the Gravel Road

CD Details

Songs From the Gravel Road is a 2005 folk and country album by Canadian artist Ian Tyson, released on Stony Plain Records. The record showcases Tyson’s storytelling through mostly original compositions that draw on Western and cowboy themes. Standout tracks include “This Is My Sky,” which blends spoken word with singing, and “Road to Las Cruces,” both reflecting Tyson’s signature style. The album features a cover of “One Morning In May” with mandolin and fiddle arrangements, while “Range Delivery” brings an unexpected reggae influence with guest vocalist Cindy Church. Two live tracks from a previous album, “Moisture” and “Casey’s Gone,” round out the collection and rank among the album’s finest moments.

This CD contains ten tracks with a total runtime of approximately 36 minutes. Tyson’s first album in roughly five years demonstrates his continued skill as a vocalist and his commitment to crafting engaging material for his dedicated listeners.
