Solomon is a 1997 television drama directed by Roger Young that explores the biblical struggle for Israel’s throne. When King David ages, his sons Adonijah and Solomon compete fiercely for succession. Ben Cross stars as Solomon, with Max Von Sydow as the aging King David and a supporting cast including Anouk Aimée, G.W. Bailey, Maria Grazia Cucinotta, and Umberto Orsini. The story follows Solomon’s rise from an unlikely heir to a wise and powerful ruler, chronicling his famous judgment between two mothers claiming the same child, his construction of the Jewish temple, his political alliance with the Queen of Sheba, and his eventual descent into materialism and idolatry.

This is a single-disc DVD release with a total runtime of two hours and forty-six minutes, rated PG-13. Affirm Films presents this two-part miniseries that draws from the Book of Kings to tell Solomon’s forty-year reign over Israel. You’ll own this used copy of a thoughtfully crafted historical drama at a savings compared to buying it new.
