Harmonium’s second album, released a year after their debut, marked a significant evolution from their early guitar-trio folk-pop sound. The band expanded with the addition of reed player and flutist Pierre Daigneault and keyboardist Serge Locat, creating a concept album structured around the four seasons, with a 17-minute epic suite serving as the fifth season. The result is a distinctive form of progressive rock rooted in folk traditions, featuring intricate arrangements that incorporate mellotron, Ondes-Martenot waves, piano, and flute alongside acoustic guitars.

This CD captures Harmonium’s ambitious instrumental and compositional growth, with guest vocalist Judy Richard appearing on the standout track “Histoires Sans Paroles.” The album showcases expanded song lengths and complexity while maintaining the acoustic foundation that defined the band’s identity. Pick up this used copy and experience a cornerstone of Quebec’s progressive rock heritage.
