Dmitri Shostakovich composed his 24 Preludes and Fugues, Op. 87, a monumental solo piano work that explores all major and minor keys. Pianist Konstantin Scherbakov performs this complete cycle, recorded in 2000, bringing his interpretive depth to Shostakovich’s intricate counterpoint and modernist harmonic language.

This CD release presents the full set of 24 paired preludes and fugues, showcasing Scherbakov’s technical command across works ranging from brief two-minute pieces to more expansive movements. A used copy lets you own this significant classical recording at a fraction of retail cost.
