Edie Brickell & New Bohemians released Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars in 1988 as their debut album, a pop-rock record that blends alternative rock with folk sensibilities. The Dallas band gained widespread attention with the lead single “What I Am,” but the album offers much more than that one track. Songs like “Love Like We Do,” “Little Miss S.,” and “The Wheel” showcase the same rhythmic and melodic appeal, while “Air of December” and “She” highlight the band’s jazz-influenced side. The introspective ballad “Circle” stands as one of Brickell’s most poignant lyrical achievements, and the full tracklist demonstrates why this debut remains worth revisiting.

This CD edition was released on Geffen Records and contains all eleven tracks, running approximately 46 minutes. You can own this piece of late-80s alternative pop-rock history at a used price that won’t strain your wallet.
