CD Details
Sebo Ensemble performs Hungarian folk music rooted in East European peasant traditions, blending dance music with song poems that trace back to medieval times. Formed by musicians dedicated to preserving authentic folk heritage, the ensemble developed their repertoire through academic study and direct collaboration with traditional folk musicians, often reconstructing rare or forgotten instruments to achieve historically accurate sounds.
This 1993 CD captures the group’s approach to folk music as a living practice rather than historical artifact, featuring nine tracks including “Love, Love/Where Were You At Night, Titmouse?”, “Play The Bagpipe, Uncle John/Harvest, My Sweetheart, Harvest…/The Monks Are Walking In Clogs”, “Dances Of Gyimes”, and “Dances Of Szék”. A used copy lets you own this distinctive recording of Hungarian traditional music at a fraction of retail cost.
