Saving Mr. Banks is a 2013 biographical drama directed by John Lee Hancock that explores the unlikely partnership between author P.L. Travers and Walt Disney as they work to bring Mary Poppins to the screen. Emma Thompson stars as the famously difficult Travers, while Tom Hanks portrays Disney himself. The film weaves together two parallel narratives: Travers’s guarded present-day negotiations in Los Angeles and poignant flashbacks to her childhood in early 1900s Australia, revealing how her past shaped her protective attachment to her creation and her resistance to Disney’s vision.

This single-disc DVD release runs 125 minutes and carries a PG-13 rating from Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The film balances drama with humor as the headstrong author and the determined filmmaker navigate their creative differences, with Paul Giamatti and Annie Rose Buckley rounding out the cast. Grab this used copy and experience the touching, funny story behind one of cinema’s most beloved adaptations.
