Revenge is a 2002 Polish comedy directed by Andrzej Wajda, based on Aleksander Fredro’s classic play. Set during a winter day at a castle divided between two sworn enemies-a notary and an old soldier known as the Cupbearer-the film follows the romantic troubles of the notary’s son Waclaw and the soldier’s niece Klara as their families’ feud threatens to keep them apart. When the tongue-tied Cupbearer enlists a boastful courtier named Papkin to help him court the widow Hanna, a cascade of scheming and romantic entanglements unfolds among the castle’s residents.
