CD Details
Philip Glass composed the scores for numerous films across his career, and this 2001 collection gathers his most significant film music in one place. The album includes complete scores from Koyaanisqatsi and Powaqqatsi, along with selections from films like Dracula, La Belle et la Bête, Kundun, Mishima, The Thin Blue Line, and several others. Glass’s minimalist approach defines these works, built on repeating arpeggios, distinctive electronic keyboard textures, and influences from non-Western vocal styles that create expansive soundscapes accompanying the visual narratives.
Released on the Nonesuch label, this CD features tracks spanning Glass’s film work, including some previously unreleased material such as “Facades” from Godfrey Reggio’s Evidence and selections from Atom Egoyan’s Diaspora and Peter Greenaway’s The Man in the Bath. The collection runs over 90 minutes and showcases how Glass developed his signature orchestral style across decades of cinema. Add this used copy to your collection at a fraction of retail cost.
