Over Your Dead Body is a 2014 Japanese horror thriller directed by Takashi Miike. The film stars Kô Shibasaki, Hideaki Ito, and Hitomi Katayama in a story about actors rehearsing and performing in a stage play based on a classic ghost story. When a successful actress uses her influence to cast her lover, a lesser-known actor, in the production, the boundaries between the theatrical narrative and real life begin to dissolve. The play itself centers on themes of abuse and vengeance, but as rehearsals progress, the cast members develop genuine obsessions that mirror the dark material they are performing. What unfolds is a chilling exploration of how the line between staged drama and authentic emotion can blur dangerously.
