Outpost marks the first collaboration between British synthesist Ian Boddy and American electronic musician Robert Rich, both veterans of the genre with over two decades of experience. Boddy built his reputation through numerous releases on his Something Else Records label, earning recognition across Europe, while Rich became known for his work on Hearts of Space, Hypnos, and Release/Relapse. Together they blend fluid electronic rhythms with impressionistic retro-futuristic soundscapes, drawing on vintage and modern analog modular synthesizers, prepared piano, metallic percussion, feedback networks, and digital processing to create an atmospheric sonic expedition.

This is a CD released in 2002 on the DiN label, featuring ten tracks that range from brief interludes like “First Outpost” and “Last Outpost” to extended pieces such as “Link Lost” and “Lagrange Point.” The album spans approximately 59 minutes of immersive electronic exploration. Purchasing this used copy lets you experience their imaginative soundworld at a fraction of retail cost.
