Once I Was a Champion is a 2011 documentary directed by Gerard Roxburgh that examines the life and death of MMA fighter Evan Tanner. Through interviews with fifty people who knew him, including fellow fighters Randy Couture, Bas Rutten, and Forrest Griffin, as well as UFC president Dana White, the film explores Tanner’s dual nature: a skilled competitor in the octagon and a troubled individual battling personal demons outside of it. His body was found in the California desert in 2008 under mysterious circumstances, leaving those close to him searching for answers about what led to his death.

This single-disc DVD presents the documentary in its full 93-minute runtime and carries a not-rated designation.
