Next Friday is a 2000 comedy written by and starring Ice Cube as Craig, a streetwise man trying to escape South Central Los Angeles and a vengeful neighborhood thug who has just been released from jail. Seeking refuge, Craig’s father sends him to stay with his Uncle Elroy in the suburbs, a lottery winner who has relocated to Rancho Cucamonga. Alongside his cousin Day-Day, Craig finds that suburban life brings its own complications: hostile neighbors, family drama involving child support, and an impending tax seizure of the house. The film features a cast including Don “DC” Curry, Amy Hill, Carmen Serano, Clifton Powell, and Jacob Vargas, with direction by Steve Carr.

This single-disc DVD release runs 98 minutes and carries an R rating from New Line Cinema. Ice Cube’s script emphasizes character-driven comedy through colorful dialogue and bragging monologues rather than traditional joke setups, creating an entertaining and energetic film. Grab this used copy and enjoy a piece of late-90s comedy without the new release price tag.
