New World is a 1998 album by The Guarneri Underground, a Pacific Northwest ensemble led by multi-instrumentalist John Schussler and violinist Jeffrey Sick. The group blends electric violins with percussion and instruments from around the world, layering them over deep grooves and flowing melodies to create an inventive fusion of blues, jazz, Celtic, and Indian music. The album features ten original compositions alongside a powerful take on Ornette Coleman’s “Lonely Woman” and a funky reworking of traditional Irish tunes called “Farewell to Inwood.”

This CD includes contributions from a stellar rhythm section and guest musicians including Eric Tingstad on guitar, Jovino Santos-Neto on piano, Jami Sieber on cello, and several others adding congas, pedal steel, clarinet, and vocals. Grab this used copy and experience an eclectic world music journey at a fraction of retail cost.
