Bette Davis stars in this 1944 Warner Bros. drama as Fanny Skeffington, a vain society woman of the World War I era who marries the steadfast Jewish financier Job Skeffington (Claude Rains) for financial security while continuing to enjoy the attention of her male admirers. As time passes and World War II arrives, Fanny must confront the consequences of her vanity and selfishness, leading to a story about sacrifice and redemption. Director Vincent Sherman guides Davis and Rains through a melodramatic tale that explores themes of beauty, aging, and the cost of indifference, with dialogue by Julius and Philip Epstein that carries the rhythm of screwball comedy.

This single-disc DVD release runs 126 minutes and carries a US Approved rating. Davis delivers a fearless performance, unafraid to play an unsympathetic and morally gray character, while Rains provides impeccable support throughout the handsomely mounted production.
