Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed the Serenade No. 9 in D major, K320, known as the “Posthorn” Serenade, in 1779. The work takes its nickname from the natural horn section that features prominently throughout. Also included here is Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto in B-flat major, K191, a solo concerto written for the woodwind instrument that showcases the composer’s gift for melody and orchestration.

This CD features the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Sir Colin Davis, with Eberhard Marschall as conductor. Both works are performed with the clarity and precision that characterize Davis’s interpretations of Classical-era music. Add this recording to your collection at a fraction of what you’d pay for a new copy.
