Mike Marshall and Choro Famoso present a 2004 world music recording that merges Brazilian choro traditions with jazz and samba influences. Mandolinist Marshall teams with percussionists Andy Connell, Harvey Wainapel, and Michael Spiro to explore the virtuosic style that developed in late 19th century Brazil from European dance forms and Afro-Brazilian rhythms. The ten tracks span from “A Hug Mr. Domingos” and “Whispering” to “Recipe For Samba,” “Carioca Nights,” and “Luis Americano On The P.R.E. No.3,” showcasing the ensemble’s command of this dynamic genre.
