Mercury Rising is a 1998 action thriller directed by Harold Becker and starring Bruce Willis as Art Jeffries, a renegade FBI agent. When a nine-year-old autistic boy named Simon cracks the government’s supposedly unbreakable encryption code called MERCURY, he becomes a target for elimination. Jeffries takes it upon himself to protect Simon from ruthless federal agents and deadly assassins, including Program Chief Nick Kudrow (Alec Baldwin), who views the boy as a security threat. As they evade their pursuers, Jeffries discovers that Simon’s extraordinary ability to read the advanced code may be their only chance to expose the conspiracy and survive.
