Mental Jewelry is the 1994 debut album by Live, an alternative rock band from Pennsylvania. Produced by Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads, the record showcases the group’s introspective songwriting, with many tracks drawing inspiration from the philosophical writings of Jiddu Krishnamurti. Songs like “Pain Lies On The Riverside,” “Operation Spirit (The Tyranny Of Tradition),” and “The Beauty Of Gray” established Live’s signature sound of brooding lyrics paired with dynamic rock instrumentation.
